ED GAW

Ed Gaw was fiercely proud of three (3) things, his wife, his 5 boys and Fernandina Beach.  His home at the beach always had guests whom he extolled with the benfits and strengths of Fernandina - he was non-stop tour guide, historian, protector and fan club for the Island.  The idea for the ocean swim was born out of his love for the ocean and the small stretch of sand he called home.  He used his skills in organization to build a foundation for the offshore swim and enlist great support from the community.  Race day was truly one of the best days in his year.  After his death, the swims took on greater meaning for his family.
